Like Marilyn Monroe was famous and in hollywood for 15 years and she died very young at 36 and was in 30 movies and was a singer, model, and playboy model and set so many tradmark things her hair, red lips, the famous skirt seen in the 7 year itch, james dean was only famous for 4 or 5 years but then was killed and they said cuz he died in his late 20s that insured his ledendary status. So what do you think what dose a celebrity has to do in order to become a ledgend?!?!?! Thank You
How long dose it take for a celeb to become a legend? It can take a long time for a celebrity to get well known enough to be cosidered a legend. The celebrity has to be involved with one character for so long that they are synonimous with that character. Examples: William Shatner with Captain Kirk, David Carradine with Kwai Chang Caine. Each of those actors had been involved with other TV shows or movies before they are given that one character that fits them like a glove. Harrison Ford for instance was known as Han Solo . . . until he did Indiana Jones. But Harrison Ford is known for a certain kind of character, the underdog who is strong, somewhat shy and sensitive, but will fight when he knows its the right thing to do. Screen actors who appear in movies might take as long as ten years to get noticed while others it can appear to happen over night. An actor becomes a legend because they make the character their own and very believable, as if that character could have lived in our world. Not many actors can do that, but it's also a trap for the actor.
Actors want to be known not for one character, but for many parts, but often the parts are not that memorable and it can take a very long time. When an actor become known for a single part, people will often think of them AS THAT PERSON and forget that they are not that person, but an actor playing a part. Sometimes they are puzzled by it all and will often become resentful for a while. They might take parts that are totally the opposite of their own personalities to distance themselves from the part they are known for.
As the actor ages, though, they do think back and realize "I am going to be remembered for this part, so I meed to embrace that fact." Sometimes it's the character that has become the legend, not the actor, so the actor must adjust their thinking about that character.
A really good way to learn about an actor's life and how that actor became a legend is to read an authorized copy of a Biography about that actor, if one is written by a person that knows them best. Sometimes actors will their own books. The story of an actor's life can be intriguing and you learn things about them that you may not have known before. I have a few books about my favorite actors. One being "Endless Highway" by David Carradine. It is his autobiography and it is an honest and raw book on his life. Well, I better get off this soap box. Looks like I know a lot on this subject.

How long dose it take for a celeb to become a legend? John Wayne was a legend. He lived a long time, worked for decades, and was easily defined as a tough good guy. He stood for something.
How long dose it take for a celeb to become a legend? Only after they die!
How long dose it take for a celeb to become a legend? Longevity leads to legendary status I think. That or something big with lots of media hype. Look at Kirk Douglas, he's been around for a hundred years..Well not really a hundred but a really long time. The sad half of this equation is to look at how many stars were extinguished early by drugs. Heath Ledger, Anna Nicole, Chris Farley, John Belushi, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, John Bonham, etc. etc. so many.
